Your Dream Career It Really is Rocket Science - Hallie Crawford

Your Dream Career It Really is Rocket Science - Hallie Crawford You know the old saying; the one how mastering something isn’t really like rocket science because it’s not that difficult. The thing is: discovering your dream career is like rocket science in that to be successful it takes designing your future and not leaving it to chance, building a foundation on which to pin your dreams, and actually testing your ideas. Besides, just like those chosen to work on rockets, you are the only person who can be “chosen” to do the job at hand. Actually many clients have good ideas for their ideal careers, but for whatever reason they’ve discounted them over the years. When I dig into the reasons why, I discover they’ve either made incorrect assumptions about why those careers wouldn’t fit or they’ve made other assumptions about what a specific career should look like and then written it off. In either case, they never took the time to discover if those assumptions were correct! Real rocket scientists would test this. From the get-go, it’s worth doing due diligence to find out if you are making such assumptions. It’s all right to discount an idea if it truly isn’t a fit, but not before verifying the facts. Jeremy told me one of his career ideas was to be a landscape architect. When I asked why he said, “I like being outdoors.” The thing is many landscape architects spend a lot of time indoors working with clients and designing plans, and Jeremy’s career path was based on one assumption that he hadn’t investigated thoroughly. Ultimately, Jeremy realized his major motivation to make a career change was that he felt cooped up in his present job as a member of an IT support team. In the end, he decided to transition to IT sales to use his knowledge of the industry but enable himself to be out of the office on a regular basis. Allison always wanted to be a nurse. But she discounted it because during an anatomy class in college she had fainted. So she assumed from then on there was no way she could be a nurse. Working together, we determined that it was still the right path for her. So she spoke with an advisor at a nursing school and shared her story. The advisor assured her that fainting happens but it is something nurses get over and that this shouldn’t stand in the way of her dream. Allison was thrilled and is now in nursing school. Making a career decision based only on one factor is unwise. Rather you want to look at the big picture and choose a path based on as many factors that are a fit. In a nutshell: Before you discard any career idea, be sure your understanding of it is based on fact and not on assumptions. We hope this is helpful to you! The exact opposite thing you need to do is to settle on a rushed choice that you will lament later on. Whats the most ideal approach to conclude whether to take a proposition for employment? Its imperative to think about more than your check. While inspecting a job offer, consider the entire package, including work content, pay, benefits, hours, adaptability, the board and friends culture, annuity plans, and the workplace. In the event that youre looking into various offers and trying to choose which one to take, assess them both and contrast with see which ends up as a winner. Consider what occupation would be ideal for the following period of your vocation. There might be notice signs that demonstrate the activity could be a bad dream. Gauge the upsides and downsides and set aside some effort to think about the offer. It is completely worthy to approach the business for quite a while to thoroughly consider it. Here are five things to consider before you express yes to a proposition for employment: Cash Matters Cash isnt the main thought, however it is a significant one. Is the offer what you anticipated? If not, is it a compensation you can acknowledge without feeling offended? Will you have the option to take care of your tabs? In the event that your answer is no, at that point dont acknowledge the offer, at any rate immediately. Ensure that you are getting paid what youre worth and you are content with the remuneration. No one needs to be in a position where they understand that the compensation isnt enough after they have acknowledged the proposition for employment. In the event that the pay bundle isnt what you expected, consider arranging your pay with your future boss. Advantages and Perks Notwithstanding compensation, survey the advantages and advantages advertised. At times the advantages bundle can be as significant as what you get in your check. On the off chance that youre not secure with the advantages that are offered, request extra data or explanation. Discover subtleties on wellbeing and disaster protection inclusion, excursion, debilitated time, incapacity, and other advantage programs, for example, retirement plans. Ask about the amount of the advantage costs are given by the organization, in full, and the amount you are required to contribute. In the event that there are an assortment of alternatives accessible, demand duplicates of the arrangement portrayals so you can look at benefits bundles. Hours and Travel Prior to tolerating an occupation, be certain that you are sure about the hours and calendar you have to work. Likewise, affirm what, assuming any, travel is included. In the event that the position requires 45 or 50 hours of work a week and youre used to working 35 hours, consider whether you will experience issues focusing on the timetable. In the event that the idea of the activity necessitates that you should be out and about three days every week, be certain that you can focus on that, also. Additionally, consider make a trip time to and from work. Is the drive going to take an additional hour or will there park expenses youre not paying at this point? Remember that if this isnt the correct activity for you, its not the apocalypse. The following offer may very well be that ideal match. Its a lot simpler to turn down a proposal than it is to leave a vocation that you have just begun. The business would lean toward that you decrease, instead of beginning once again the recruiting procedure a long time not far off on the off chance that you dont work out. Along these lines, do set aside the effort to altogether assess the offer. Take the time you have to make an informed, educated choice so you feel as sure as conceivable that you, and the organization, have made a superb match. Bid for employment Evaluation Checklist Survey this agenda to guarantee that you weigh all the alternatives preceding creation a choice to acknowledge a position. Salary (base pay, commission, rewards, anticipated pay builds): You might be excited to find a new line of work offer, yet genuinely think about the remuneration before tolerating. Youll should be happy with the compensation for at any rate a year, as you wont get a raise before at that point. Come equipped to negotiate the offer, in view of your exploration of market rates as opposed to a pure fantasy number youd like to get.Benefits and perks (vacation, wiped out time, medical coverage, life coverage, 401k, annuity plans, investment opportunities): Evaluate the companys benefits and perks in expansion to compensation, on the grounds that a decent bundle can compensate for a lesser pay if youre setting aside significant cash on medicinal services and have a lot of excursion time, an organization gave vehicle or an adaptable timetable. On the other side, consider how much a poor advantages bundle can cost you; paying a great deal cash based for high premiums, deductibles and co-pays can remove a major piece from your pay. Covered up costs: Is there organization gave childcare on location or will you have to pay childcare for your own? What will your drive resemble? Do you have to purchase increasingly proficient or costly garments? Do you get a corporate record for meeting customers or will you have to coordinate with them on your own dime? What at first appears to be a pay increment may cause your salary to take a tumble on the off chance that you have different costs you didnt check on.Work condition: Do you know precisely how youll invest your energy in an everyday premise? Dont get occupied taking a gander at the trappings of compensation and advantages just to put some distance between the way that the job may not coordinate what you really need to do. Inquire as to whether this activity energizes you, on the off chance that you think youll exceed expectations at it, and whether it will propel you on your career way. While you probably won't be in a situation to turn down a vocation, pondering th ese inquiries will tell you what's in store. Upsides and downsides: Make a rundown of the advantages and disadvantages of your present position (on the off chance that you have one) and the proposition for employment you are thinking about. Which one ends up as a winner? In the event that one exceeds the other, your dynamic will be simpler. On the off chance that youre adding another proposal to the blend, list its advantages and disadvantages as well. Your internal voice: What does your gut let you know? Do you feel prepared to appear splendid and at an early stage Monday or do you have a squeamish sense that this may not be the correct activity for you? Tune in to your internal voice. Our senses are normally right, regardless of whether we cannot concoct a solid, judicious clarification for them. Proposition for employment Acceptance and Rejection Letters Regardless of whether you are tolerating or dismissing, a proposition for employment, its a smart thought to tell the organization your choice recorded as a hard copy. Personal Brands have a direct effect on corporate image - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Individual Brands directly affect corporate picture - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career The individuals you manage through organizations can either break or make your impression of the organization all in all. In the event that you are discontent with a particular assistance or item that an individual is either selling you or supporting you with, at that point you accuse the organization. We see this for the most part in retail locations, for example, Best Buy, where you interface legitimately with workers at either the sales register or close to explicit items. These people know about a specific item and can assist you with understanding highlights more than different representatives on the store that are situated in an unexpected way. At the point when you are welcomed by one of these people, they should pass on a feeling of trust in their image and that of the item they are clarifying. This, yet they should help the client by giving an outstanding encounter from information sharing till buy. This additionally works comparative with the sales reps, as they are client confronting and can guarantee or lose the deal dependent on character, disposition, experience, specialized capabilities and the brand of their business. Best Buy needs to mentor their representatives on consumer loyalty It appears to be each time that I stroll into a Best Buy store, I have a most terrible encounter. Before I visit a store, I do look into on the item Im intrigued by, so when I stroll in, I can make a snappy buy decisively. The second Im going to buy the item, the individual at the register gets some information about the item guarantee, which will in general be a genuine misuse of cash. I generally reject and afterward get bothered by the representative with phrases like what's up with you and but.you need this and obviously outward appearances that could dismiss any client. From their point, they are hoping to make a type of commission on this suckers wager. From mine, I simply need the item, without paying additional expenses. This conflict, harms both the client and representative experience, as I think less about the general Best Buy brand as a result of my involvement in that person. Each worker is a diplomat of the Best Buy brand, so if their image is seen as poor, the organiza tions will have a similar impact. After this kind of experience, the Best Buy worker turns out to be less centered, increasingly baffled and will have lower confidence for the following client. What can be realized With enough client protests and reviews indicating poor outcomes, I figure Best Buy should concentrate on giving workers different motivations, as opposed to push for these irrelevant warrantys. They additionally ought to look at who they enlist, as the mentalities of their representatives are negative and radiate a terrible brand condition. It ought to be treated as an open door for development.

Like many terms, different people will give you varied definition of business analytics. There are, however, a few key aspects to business analytics that are generally accepted as fact. It’s smart to think of business analytics as two-fold. There’s the data side to business analytics, which is necessary in order to understand variables affecting a company. Think of data as the building blocks of business analytics. Blocks, however, aren’t super exciting unless you build something out of them. This is the other half of business analyticsâ€"the human element, which determines how data can be useful to a company. How Do You Use Business Analytics? Just because you have a lot of fancy data doesn’t mean that it’s going to help you. Business analytics is only useful if the people within your company understand the value of making quantifiable decisionsâ€"and then actually act based on data instead of emotions or gut feelings. Walmart saw that Amazon was hurting their business. So their management looked at data, and has now implemented a strategy for growing their ecommerce. Business analytics isn’t just for the big players. Small- and medium-sized businesses can also benefit from the insights gained from this form of data analysis and execution. The important thing is that business owners and managers understand the key performance indicators (KPIs) that play a direct role in the bottom line. The priority of KPIs will depend on each individual business. For many companies, two of the most important KPIs are customer lifetime value (CLV) and customer acquisition cost (CAC). These both help inform marketing and budgeting strategies throughout a whole organization. How Is Business Intelligence Different from Business Analytics? This is a common question, especially for people who don’t have much experience yet in the business world. There’s a simple way to remember the difference between business intelligence and business analytics. Intelligence is simply data compressed down into a more consumable form. Business analytics goes a step further by doing the work of intelligence, but also trying to identify the causes of business outcomes. Business analytics is typically more valuable because, when done correctly, it can directly help companies create action plans. Pursue Data That Offers the Most Potential Not all data is equal. Even though data all boils down to numbers, there’s still a massive difference between highly relevant data and less useful data. Part of the responsibility of business analytics is identifying what sets of data actually might provide an economic benefit to a company. Since data collection and synthesis aren’t free, it makes sense to focus mostly on areas that have the greatest amount of promise for useful insights. On the other hand, there can often be incredible, unexpected revelations hidden in strange places. It’s the job of business analytics to toe the line between these two poles in order to provide companies the most value. Regardless of industry, business analytics can help give your company a competitive edge. You don’t necessarily need an advanced degree to have a firm understanding of how business analytics can work for you.

How to Write a Resume With No Experience

How to Write a Resume With No Experience Lack of experience is not uncommon for new college graduates. If you are a recent grad, don’t let this discourage you from applying for the job you want. Here are some tips on how to write an effective resume, even if you feel like you dont have enough experience. Start with a summary The summary at the beginning of your resume is your “elevator pitch”. Tell your potential employer who you are and what you have to offer. Since you don’t have much work experience, you may want to highlight your education and skills. Be concise. If you have a long list of skills, don’t list them all. Instead you should look at the job posting you are applying for and emphasise those that are mentioned in the job description and are  relevant to the employer and role you are applying for.  You can also check out job ads for other vacancies in the same industry and come up with a list of common skills required for these jobs. Having the skills an employer is looking for will get you a step closer to an interview. However, it is not recommended that you  lie about what you know or have experience in, as it is likely that you will get caught out at a later stage.   Tackle the experience section For a new college grad, this section can be a challenge, but not one that can’t be overcome. Obviously you can’t leave it empty. How about filling this section with all your babysitting experiences? Well, don’t do that unless you are looking for a job as a babysitter. Instead of focusing on work experience, which you lack, change the focus to your skills. Look back at the skills you put in the summary section and elaborate on each skill. Be sure to explain how you utilised each skill, for example, how did you apply these skills in your coursework?   Did you acquire any such skills in extracurricular activities? Did you have any volunteer work experience? How did you apply these skills? Even though you may not get paid for volunteer  work, they are still valid experiences that you should include in your resume and it is likely that you developed valuable skills and experience that will benefit you in your future career. For example, project management or leadership skills could be ones to mention, if you were involved in planning or organising activities among a team during a volunteer project.   List your work history If you have interned or volunteered at any company or organization, you can include the dates and positions in this section. Here you can give a brief explanation of the role you took on and what your responsibilities were.   However, since you have already listed your experience in the above sections, there is no need to repeat the same information here. If you have no work experience at all, it is ok to leave this section out of your resume and place more focus on your personal skills and attributes. Image Credit: Shutterstock

Improve Conversions from Your Brands Website Home Page - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Improve Conversions from Your Brands Website Home Page - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Your personal brands website’s home page is the main hub to attract interested prospects. Your visitors should know that you are both ready and able to answer their questions and solve their problems in addition to what you have to offer in your products or services. So how exactly does a personal brand attract the right website visitors for better conversions? The method is simple once your brand applies the correct research as to exactly who your target market is. This includes knowing the right keywords that apply to your niche, and staying on top of current trends and technology. With a clear focus you can attract more loyal brand followers who will want to make a purchase. How to attract the right visitors to your website Here are several tips to effectively build your personal brand online and increase your conversion rates: Write effective headlines Your content should grab the readers attention in a way that is unique, specific, urgent. Use a good online headline checker to find out how effective your titles and keywords are. In the few seconds that a visitor has arrived to your landing page you will want to offer them a promise that catches their attention and matches what they have been searching for. This should compel them to want them to know more about how your business can help them in a way that is not being offered by your competition. Get personal Write a brand story that tells the reason of why you’re producing products or services. This can be done in a video or powerful image exactly what is unique to your business and how you can best serve your customers. Choose words and details that make the reader feel as if you know them personally, and that you understand exactly what they are looking for. Keep it simple and avoid overloading your visitors with too many images or videos. Open the lines of communication Make is easy for your visitors to get in touch with you either by phone, through email, a chat box, and on social media. This will build trust as well as improve your subscribers list as long as you include a detailed lead generation form on your website where you can provide a special offer and capture your prospect’s information. Your personal brand’s website should be a place where visitors have a clear definition of who you are, and find your content compelling as it meets their needs. You will not only be able to attract more leads, but also grow your brand influence on multiple online platforms.

Examples of Resume Writing About Making Copies - Dont Use Examples

Examples of Resume Writing About Making Copies - Don't Use ExamplesSome examples of resume writing about making copies, (copywriting) make a good argument for being old-fashioned. For example, there is the keyword stuffing in writing about making copies. While keywords are important for a good search engine ranking, the best way to do it is to write directly from the heart. Now, that does make a good point. So, why not use direct wordings to get your message across? In fact, more people use content-rich resumes to get a head start on that powerful search engine ranking! Why let someone else dictate how you are going to write, when you can write directly to the point and create that all important SEO.The problem with writing in a formal format that does not allow you to tell the reader who you are and what you have to offer, is that you never really know if the content is getting through or not. It might just as well not have gotten through, for all the effort that is expended. It may be worth your while to take a different route. You may think that your resume is bad or your skills are atrocious. You might not be able to use examples of resume writing about making copies because they are written by someo ne else. This is unfortunate, but it happens to a lot of writers out there. They may have had some talent but unfortunately they have been taught the wrong way to use their talent.Once you have been hired and your skills have been put to use in the real world, it is time to get back to writing. You have learned a lesson and now you want to polish your skills to perfection. You will need to write straight from the heart to achieve this goal.Once you have learned to write from the heart, you are ready to practice copywriting in the real world. You do not want to use examples of resume writing about making copies when you are not actually looking for a job. That is just a waste of time and precious time when you are really just trying to put together a very long resume for the sake of creating one. When you do use examples of resume writing about making copies, you are still putting your heart and soul into the piece, and that makes the impact that much greater. You should feel free to give your life story without the fear of judgment. A clear, crisp, professional resume that expressing your ideas clearly and beautifully is the best marketing tool that you can ever have. 12 Ways to Reduce Stress From Your Desk - Career Advice Blog for Millennials

12 Ways to Reduce Stress From Your Desk - Career Advice Blog for Millennials The beach. The gym. The spa. Of all the places you could go to your reduce stress, your desk is probably last on the list. That doesn’t need to be the case. Transform your workspace into a little retreat of its own, even if it’s only for a few minutes. Make your desk work for you for a change by taking a deep breath and learning 12 ways to reduce your stress â€" without getting up. 1. Get a Mini Massage We’re not suggesting you roll out a massage table, turn down the lights and twist open a few bottles of essential oil. Tiny ear massages work wonders if you’re stressed while on the job. And they’re subtle, so your coworkers won’t realize you’re giving yourself a de-stressing treatment. Massage a spot on the upper part of your ear called the Shen Men. This pressure point is believed to boost health, fizzle stress and increase energy with the proper push. Use a finger to press your Shen Men. Inhale and exhale while looking left and right and feel your stress go away with each breath. 2. Look out the Window It’s not surprising that a walk outside can lower your stress levels. A recent study found that looking at pictures of trees could be a “natural stimulus” and make you feel less anxious. Reset your desktop background to show a leafy scene or peek out a nearby window. Lose yourself among the trees the next time you’re feeling too much pressure. 3. Pick Up the Phone Who de-stresses you the most? Is it your mom, your sister or your partner? Whoever it is, pick up the phone and call them for a five-minute chat when you’re overwhelmed. Share that you’re feeling stressed for some of their feel-good advice or just catch-up to reset yourself for the rest of the day. 4. Breathe Right Breathing patterns change when you get stressed. They move from regular and deep inhalations to shorter, faster ones. Instead of letting your stress drive your breathing rate, take your lungs into a different gear with controlled, relaxing breaths. All you need are ten minutes and an idea of how to slow down your breathing pattern. Focusing on such a simple bodily function will make you feel more balanced, mindful and, of course, de-stressed. 5. Snack Smart Eating an entire sleeve of cookies or a smorgasbord of chips from the vending machine to relieve your stress won’t give you the energy you need to be productive. Instead, you’ll feel tenser by the fact that you’ve abandoned your daily diet. Have healthy snacks on-hand, especially when an important deadline or big meeting is coming up. A mug of herbal tea, an open-faced peanut butter and banana sandwich or even chocolate covered almonds can give you the indulgent taste and boost of energy you need without derailing your day. 6. Reduce Muscle Tension Feel tension from your toes to the top of your head? Then this exercise is for you. Flex your toes and then release, removing pent-up stress. Move up your body, from your feet to your legs, back, arms, chest, neck and wherever else you feel tense and repeat the exercise. You’ll feel energized and ready to move on with your day. 7. Find Your Funny What’s the funniest video you’ve ever seen on YouTube? Cue up your favorite funny video and use it as a lighthearted break from your responsibilities. Avoid falling down the YouTube rabbit hole â€"  one cute kitten video turning into 20 â€" by setting a timer on your desktop, watch or smartphone. When you close your browser, you’ll feel happy, refreshed and de-stressed. 8. Turn on Some Tunes Take advantage of the power of music, whether you’re working or taking a break. Research shows that music reduces stress in pre- and post-surgery patients in the hospital â€" your workplace stress levels are likely lower than that, so press “play” and see what happens. Choose music that keeps you focused and concentrated as some music soothes, while other genres distract. 9. Write It Down Journaling is a proven stress-reducing activity. Write down what’s worrying you and get it out of your system to start feeling better. Use your journal to work through a problem and figure out a solution. Jot down what’s bugging you, whether to vent or find a remedy, and you’ll lower your stress levels. If that’s not your thing, try another creative outlet and bust out an adult coloring book. Color instead of writing for five minutes to take your mind off of what’s stressing you out and end up with a pretty picture to keep at your desk to mellow you out in the future. 10. Clean Your Workspace Remember all those times your parents told you to clean your room? It was more than just for the sake of bugging you. Clutter can cause stress and have a significant effect on how you feel in your workspace. Obviously, there’s a simple solution â€" clear away the clutter and reorganize so that what you look at is sleek, clean and put-together. And voila, stress is gone and your desk’s utility is improved. 11. Meditate With Desk Routines Start meditating and reaping the de-stressing benefits of meditation. Experts in meditation have already come up with techniques you can follow so that you feel relief even if you’re sitting in a cubicle. If you’re up for it, try adding in a few yoga moves you can do at your desk to help you stretch while you unwind. The effects will be good for your body and your mind. Added bonus â€" the above routines boost practitioners’ productivity too, so you’ll power through the rest of your workday with even more “oomph.” 12. Take a Break Turn off your monitor and take a break. A quick five- or 10-minute breather could be just what you need to regain your cool. Grab a book or listen to music, so long as your job allows full-on desk breaks. Breaks also give your brain a rest in many ways. De-stress during your break and return with a refreshed sense of gusto, thus spiking your productivity. Feel free to use this information in a pro-break sales pitch to your boss. How will you work to reduce stress at your desk? Share what you’ve tried â€"  and how well it works â€" in the comments or on social media.
